George Schoenfeld

George Schoenfeld, 84, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, with his wife by his side at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater. He was a 33 years resident of Rock Springs, and former resident of Newcastle, Riverton Wyoming and Washington State.

He was born on May 19, 1940, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, George lived a full and meaningful life, touched by his love for family, dedication to his work, and passion for the great outdoors.

George was a proud graduate of LaCrosse High School, class of 1958, and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Soil Science. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, where his discipline and commitment shone brightly. Following his military service, George found his calling in range management, dedicating 20 years to the Bureau of Land Management before retiring in 2003.

His life was built around his devotion to family and community. A faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rock Springs, George was instrumental in the construction of the church, contributing not just with tools, but also with heart and spirit.

George was a man of the land, cherishing the serenity of nature. He found joy in hunting, shooting, and woodworking, but his greatest happiness came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who cherished his stories and gentle guidance.

George is survived by his devoted wife, Ruth "Beth" Schoenfeld of Rock Springs, Wyoming: three sons, Bryon Schoenfeld of Florida; William Schoenfeld of Texas; and Paul Schoenfeld and wife Lauren of Cheyenne, Wyoming; three sisters-in-law, Shirley Schoenfeld; Natalie Schoenfeld both of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Barbara Lamoreux of Rockvale, Colorado; six grandchildren: Allex Lampley and husband Randy, Tony Betters and wife Danielle, Isaac, Shelby, Zachary, and Letty Schoenfeld; four great-grandchildren: Mason and Rylee Haywood, and Sydney and Romie Betters; several nieces; nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, William and Erma Schoenfeld, two brothers, Donald Schoenfeld; Gene Schoenfeld; two sisters, Wilma Viner and husband Harry; Lois Lokken and husband Donald.

The Schoenfeld family extends a heartfelt thanks to the community for their love and support. The family respectfully requests donations in George's memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, 3101 College Drive, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901.

Cremation will take place; a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 14, 2025 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 3101 College Drive, Rock Springs, Wyoming 82901.
