The Sweetwater County Library System is pleased to announce that Konstanz Potts has been named the new Rock Springs Library Manager, and Amanda Romero has been named the new Community Fine Arts Center Manager.
Potts, who started her new role on January 1, has worked for the Rock Springs Library since 2019. She started as a youth-focused Public Services Librarian as was promoted to the position Public Services Manager in 2022.
"One of my favorite aspects of public libraries is the role they play in their communities," Potts said. "They are great equalizers where regardless of your age, interests, economic status, or any other category you might fit into, you are welcome to exist with very little expectations beyond treating the space and those around you with common courtesy."
As for the Rock Springs Library, Potts said that she loves the impact the older library has had on the generations of Rock Springs families. "Often times, this library has many older residents who came in as children and now they get to share it with their grandchildren," she said. "Between the history of the building itself and housing the Community Fine Arts Center, the library holds a lot of Rock Springs history and many people who visit are eager to either share what they know or learn more about it."
In her new role, as Library Manager, Potts will oversee all operations of the Rock Springs Library as well as overseeing Romero in her new role as CFAC Manager. "My hope is to ensure our library and the Community Fine Arts Center offers programs for all age groups, from babies to seniors and everyone in between," she said. "I also hope to collaborate with the other libraries to make these programs happen and give the community something special and unique to experience and enjoy. I believe once our meeting room renovations are completed, the world of possibilities will expand greatly and I truly look forward to it."
Romero has worked at the Community Fine Arts Center as a CFAC Assistant since 2021. She began her new role as CFAC Manager on March 1.
"I've had a deep passion for art that began as a child," Romero said. "My love of art and creating was aided by a talented grandma as well as supportive parents. Inspired by many great teachers and professors, I've been able to pass on some of what I've learned about art to many others through classes and projects. I feel lucky to have the support of my family on my artistic journey. I'm delighted to continue and expand that journey through the Community Fine Arts Center."
Romero said that she is excited for the opportunity to offer additional art enrichments for youth in the community. "I would like to see the 'A is for Art' series continue as well as add collage, painting, drawing, art principles, famous artists and some take-and-make art kits for the busier kids."
As for adults, Romero is hoping to add some canvas classes, collage, seasonal art projects and various art workshops.
"The Rock Springs Library and Community Fine Arts Center are in good hands," said Lindsey Travis, Sweetwater County Library System Director. "Konstanz is a strong leader who is great at unifying teams, and Amanda is a talented artist with a passion for teaching. I look forward to seeing all they are going to do for our library system and the community."
