Wrestlers compete well at Regionals, prepare for State

The Green River High School Wrestling teams split up this past Friday and Saturday for Regionals. The girls team competed at Evanston while the boys traveled to Star Valley to compete.

The 4A West Boys competed against teams from Evanston, Star Valley, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Natrona County, Rock Springs and Riverton. Green River was third overall in the Team Competition.

The 4A West Girls Competition included teams from Big Piney, Cody, Dubois, Evanston, 

Greybull/Riverside, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Kemmerer, Lander, Lovell, Lyman, Mountain View, Pinedale, Powell, Riverton, Rock Springs, Rocky Mountain, Shoshoni, Star Valley, Thermopolis, Wind River and Wyoming Indian.

Green River had one champion in the boys class, with Tavin Vendetti coming in first at 113 pounds. The Wolves also had one individual champion in the girls competition, with Lily Harris winning in the 130 pound class.

Next up for those that qualified will be the State Meet for both boys and girls teams at the Casper Events Center, starting today and going to Saturday, March 1.

Those qualifying for Green River are, for the boys, Brekkun Eslick, Darris Todd, Tavin Vendetti, Oliver Wisniewski, Kaleb Gunter, Robert McMullan, Bentley Johnson, Jeremiah Musbach, Weston Green, Brayden McMullan, Kendal Porter, Zachary Dalton, 

Orion Balizan, Maddux Hintz, Jaydon Walther, Andy Weipert, Jayce Stewart, Timothy Robinson, Logan Bauers, Kaleb Clark and Jakob Lloyd. For the girls, Lily Harris, Bianca Maez and Adia Price qualified to compete at State.

Head Coach Josh Wisniewski noted that it will be a "quick turnaround for State," but added that "both boys and girls competed very well last weekend and we are looking forward to seeing what we can do at State."
