Green River wraps up season at State Championships

The Green River Wolves ended their season in spectacular fashion at the 2025 4A Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships, earning a sixth-place overall team finish and securing multiple top-three podium finishes against the best swimmers in Wyoming. With State titles, silver medals, and remarkable performances across the board, the Wolves cemented their place as one of the top programs in the state.

Senior Colin Gilmore delivered one of the most dominant performances of the meet, claiming the State championship in the 100-yard Freestyle with a blazing time of 47.47. His first-place finish capped off a season of excellence and established him as one of the fastest sprinters in Wyoming high school swimming. He also secured silver in the 200-yard Freestyle, clocking an impressive 1:43.12, proving himself to be one of the most versatile swimmers in the state.

Fellow Senior Keegan Gailey also made a statement in his final high school meet, securing a State runner-up finish in 1-meter Diving with a massive score of 477.90. Gailey battled some of the state's top divers and came up just shy of a State title, but his performance solidified his reputation as one of Wyoming's elite divers. Sophomore Tieler Ballard also stepped up in the diving event, finishing ninth with a score of 316.10, adding valuable points for the team.

The Wolves showcased depth and talent across multiple events, particularly in the sprint freestyle races. Sophomore Mitchell Horn put up an impressive 22.61 in the 50-yard Freestyle, finishing fifth overall, while Senior Ashton Hafner placed ninth (23.19) and Senior Andrew Neher followed at twelfth (23.91), giving Green River a strong showing in the event. Horn continued his stellar performance in the 100-yard Freestyle, finishing eighth with a time of 50.54, while Hafner touched at 51.48 for 11th place.

Green River's relay teams also stepped up, proving their ability to compete on a statewide level. The 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Hafner, Horn, Vance Lauriski-Adams, and Gilmore put together a strong swim, placing fourth overall with a time of 3:22.35. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team of Hafner, Horn, Neher, and Gilmore finished in fifth place (1:31.40), while the 200-yard Medley Relay team of Sam Dockter, Dallan Owens, Aiden Neher, and Andrew Neher also grabbed fifth place (1:44.87).

Green River's versatility was also on display in the stroke events. Freshman Sam Dockter had a standout meet, placing seventh in the 100-yard Backstroke (57.72) and eighth in the 100-yard Butterfly (57.26), proving that the Wolves have young talent ready to carry the program forward in future seasons. Aiden Neher was close behind in the Butterfly, finishing ninth with a time of 57.32.

In the distance events, Junior Vance Lauriski-Adams took 10th place in the 500-yard Freestyle with a strong time of 5:25.24, adding to the Wolves' overall scoring efforts.

Though the final team standings saw Green River finishing sixth overall with 151 points, only five points behind fifth-place Sheridan and six points behind fourth-place Kelly Walsh, the team left Gillette knowing they had competed at the highest level.

"We were in it," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "It was a close, competitive meet, and I'm proud of how our boys swam. We knew going in that we had a shot at some big finishes, and they really delivered. It was a great way to wrap up the season."

As the Wolves say goodbye to a talented senior class, including State Champion Colin Gilmore and State Runner-up Keegan Gailey, the foundation for future success has already been laid. With standout underclassmen like Horn, Dockter, Aiden Neher, Lauriski-Adams and Ballard returning, Green River is poised to remain a top contender in Wyoming high school swimming.

With a State title, a silver medal, and multiple podium finishes, the Wolves proved this season that they belong among the best. Though their 2025 campaign has come to a close, the team's legacy of hard work, determination, and excellence will continue to shape the program for years to come.
