After competing two weeks ago in an Indoor Track meet in Pocatello, Idaho, a number of Green River High School athletes qualified for the highly prestigious 45th Annual Simplot Games on the same track, which took place this past week. Green River took six girls and eight boys to the event.
In addition to a large number of teams from Idaho, Utah, Montana and Wyoming, there were teams from all over the United States, Canada and Australia, with as many as 350 competitors in some events.
Head Track Coach Dan Hansen was pleased that his team had three athletes that made the finals.
On Thursday in the Girls Weight Throw, Amanda Davis and Lillian Allison made finals, with Allison placing sixth with a throw of 41’4” which bettered her school record by 5.5 inches, the coach reported. On Saturday, Ellie Quiroz was in the High Jump, and Amanda Davis and Allison competed in the Girls Shot Put, where Allison placed fifth with an excellent throw of 39’ 10” and Davis took 19th with a throw of 34’.

The Simplot Games provided an excellent opportunity for the Wolves Indoor Track competitors to get the experience of competing against some of the best Indoor Track athletes in the nation and other countries as they gear up for their last meet of the season at the University of Wyoming this weekend in preparation for the State Indoor Championships the following week.
