The Green River Wolves stormed into the 4A West Conference Championships determined to leave their mark, and they did just that. With a string of record-breaking performances, dominant victories, and top finishes, Green River made it clear they are one of the top teams in the state. After a hard-fought battle with Kelly Walsh, the Wolves secured a second-place overall finish, falling just short of the conference title but proving they are a serious contender heading into the State Championships.
"It was nice to have everybody back and swimming," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "We've been dealing with some sickness. It's been really rough, not just on our team, but on everybody's team. So it was nice to have everybody semi-healthy and swimming strong. And, you know, when everybody's there, we have a pretty good team."
Among the standout performances, Colin Gilmore delivered a pair of stunning victories, winning the 200-yard Freestyle (1:49.98) and 100-yard Freestyle (49.84). Both swims earned him Conference titles, while his effortless speed and endurance solidified his place as one of the top swimmers in Wyoming.
Green River also dominated the diving competition, thanks to a record-shattering performance from Senior Keegan Gailey. With a score of 492.95, Gailey obliterated the conference record in 1-meter Diving, proving that his precision and skill set him apart from the field. His incredible showing gave Green River crucial points in the team race and positioned him as a favorite heading into State.
Beyond individual accolades, Green River's relay teams stole the spotlight. The 400-yard Freestyle relay team of Mitchell Horn, Ashton Hafner, Vance Lauriski-Adams, and Gilmore delivered one of the most thrilling moments of the meet, setting a new Conference record with a winning time of 3:28.59. The relay team's chemistry, speed, and execution made it one of the most dominant performances of the night.
With victories piling up, the Wolves weren't just setting records-they were earning top honors. Colin Gilmore and Keegan Gailey were both named Conference Athletes of the Meet, recognizing their outstanding performances and leadership. Gilmore also claimed the coveted title of Conference Athlete of the Year, an achievement that reflects his consistency and dominance in Wyoming high school swimming. Coach Seiloff also received a well-deserved Conference Coach of the Year award.
With Conference behind them and State on the horizon, the Wolves are looking to carry this momentum into the final and most important meet of the season.
"No breaks for us," Seiloff said. "We have two meets this week, which I haven't done before, so that's kind of strange. But yeah, it'll be Senior Night for Rock Springs [Wednesday], and then Thursday will be Senior Night for us. Then, next week, it's State."
With a Conference meet filled with career-best performances, record-breaking swims, and unmatched team energy, Green River now sets its sights on the State Championships, where they will have the chance to prove themselves on Wyoming's biggest stage.
