The Green River High School Boys Swimming and Diving team capped off a phenomenal weekend with dominant performances during dual meets against Natrona County and Jackson, followed by a third-place finish at the Jim Beman Memorial Invitational. The Wolves showcased their depth, resilience, and record-breaking potential as they head into the final stretch of their season.
During Friday's dual meets, Green River secured decisive victories, with final scores of 128–50 against Natrona County and 135–39 against Jackson. Standout individual efforts helped fuel the team's success. Colin Gilmore headlined the evening by breaking Natrona's 200-yard Freestyle pool record with a blazing time of 1:51.75 and conquering the 100-yard Butterfly. Meanwhile, Diver Keegan Gailey delivered a historic performance, setting both Natrona's 11-Dive pool record and a new Green River school record with a score of 282.05.
"Everyone did an amazing job this weekend," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "Considering the illnesses and absences we had, I'm so proud of how this team came together and performed. They really stepped up."
Green River's relay teams also dominated all the relay events, earning first place in the 200-yard Medley Relay (1:54.98), the 200-yard Freestyle Relay (1:36.58) and the 400-yard Freestyle Relay (3:42.04). Additional strong swims came from Andrew Neher, who won the 50-yard Freestyle with a time of 24.75, and Ashton Hafner, who placed second in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:51.28). Mitchell Horn also secured a first-place finish in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:13.08.
On Saturday, the Wolves kept the momentum rolling at the Jim Beman Memorial Invitational, finishing third overall with 237 points behind Buffalo and Kelly Walsh. Gilmore once again delivered standout performances, winning the 100-yard Freestyle in 49.56 and securing second in the 50-yard Freestyle at 22.98. Gailey proved his dominance in diving, amassing a jaw-dropping score of 506.40 points to claim first place and cement his spot as one of the top divers in the state.
"Keegan's performance was incredible," Seiloff remarked. "Breaking both the school and pool records in one weekend is no small feat. He's having an outstanding season."
The Wolves showed depth across the board. Vance Lauriski-Adams captured first in the 500-yard Freestyle (5:45.42) and added a fifth-place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:02.41). Neher continued his consistency with a strong fifth-place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly (1:01.12), while Hafner and Owens added crucial points in their events. The Wolves' A relay team delivered another solid performance, finishing second in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay (1:33.87). The swimmers included Horn, Hafner, Andrew Neher and Gilmore.
Despite battling illnesses that sidelined key swimmers, the team impressed with their grit and perseverance.
"The boys showed so much heart this weekend," said Seiloff. "Even with setbacks, they kept pushing and delivered solid times. I couldn't be prouder of how they're performing as we approach the State Championship."
With the Gillette Invite and conference championships just around the corner, Green River is focused on fine-tuning their performances as they gear up for the State meet. If this weekend was any indication, the Wolves are poised to make a strong run as the season wraps up.
