In the heart of a grueling season, the Green River High School Boys Swimming and Diving team is proving they're more than ready to rise to the challenge. Last week's back-to-back competitions saw the Wolves delivering standout performances, with their relentless effort and skill earning them podium finishes, new qualifications, and a surge of confidence as the State championships draw closer.
The week kicked off at the East Duals, where the Wolves claimed victories over Kelly Walsh and Cheyenne East in commanding fashion. One of the week's brightest moments came as Vance Lauriski-Adams earned his State qualification with a 24.50 finish in the 50-yard Freestyle. His breakout performance didn't stop there - Lauriski-Adams added key contributions in the relays, helping the 400-yard Freestyle team to a silver medal finish with a time of 3:40.64.
Aiden Neher led the charge in individual events, winning both the 200-yard Freestyle and 100-yard Butterfly with times of 2:00.19 and 59.25, respectively. Colin Gilmore continued his streak of excellence, dominating the 200-yard Individual Medley and the 100-yard Butterfly. Mitchell Horn also conquered the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:42.17. On the diving board, Keegan Gailey secured first place with a score of 270.45, with teammates Tieler Ballard and John Carson rounding out the top five.
The Wolves carried their momentum into Saturday's Cheyenne Invite, where they battled a stacked field of 12 teams to claim second place overall. Gilmore stole the spotlight once again, securing first in the 200-yard Freestyle with a time of 1:50.57 and earning silver in the 500-yard Freestyle at 5:08.16. Lauriski-Adams added another top-10 finish in the 500-yard Freestyle and played a pivotal role in the Wolves' gold-medal win in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay, clocking in at 1:34.42 alongside Andrew Neher, Mitchell Horn, and Ashton Hafner.
Gailey continued his dominance on the boards, delivering a commanding first-place finish with a remarkable 453.45 score. Additional highlights included Horn's eighth-place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle and Aiden Neher's seventh-place swim in the 100-yard Butterfly.
"It was a fantastic week for us," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "The boys are working hard and showing incredible growth. Seeing Vance qualify for State was a big moment for us, and the team as a whole has been stepping up across the board. With these results, I couldn't be prouder."
As the Wolves turn their attention to the Casper Invite this weekend, they're aiming to sharpen their skills and maintain their momentum. With only a few weeks left in the season, the excitement is building, and Green River is setting its sights on making a major splash at the State championships. For now, one thing is clear: the Wolves are hitting their stride at just the right time.
