The Green River High School Boys Swimming and Diving team showcased depth, talent, and determination at the Rock Springs and Evanston Invitational meets this past weekend, securing top finishes across a range of events and proving they are a team to watch this season.
On Friday at the Rock Springs Invite which was hosted in Green River, the Wolves made a statement by scoring an impressive 351 points to take first place over five other schools. The team shone in the relay events, with the 400-yard Freestyle Relay team of Ashton Hafner, Mitchell Horn, Vance Lauriski-Adams, and Colin Gilmore touching the wall first in 3:41.24. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team also claimed gold, with Andrew Neher, Horn, Hafner, and Gilmore clocking a time of 1:37.37.
Coach Colleen Seiloff praised her swimmers for their team spirit and consistency.
“What I love about this group is how everyone contributes. It’s not about one or two standouts—it’s a team effort. Every swimmer, every dive, every point matters,” Seiloff said.
In the individual events, multiple Wolves stepped up to the plate. Senior Keegan Gailey dazzled in diving, taking first place with a score of 278.00.
“Keegan is just getting started, and it’s exciting to see his potential,” said Seiloff.
The Wolves swept the top spots in the 50 and 100-yard Freestyle with Senior Colin Gilmore leading the way. Dallan Owens also dominated the 100-yard Butterfly, clocking a time of 1:01.87. In the 200-yard Individual Medley, Aiden Neher (2:26.17), Sam Dockter (2:26.59), and Andrew Neher (2:26.82) finished third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. In the grueling 500-yard Freestyle, Vance Lauriski-Adams battled to a fourth-place finish with a strong 5:58.03, showing off his endurance.
Saturday’s meet in Evanston brought more success as the Wolves continued their dominance. Leading the way for Green River were Gilmore and Gailey with more top performances. Gilmore dominated the 200 and 500-yard Freestyle events, along with Gailey slaying the 1-meter Diving. Green River had the top performers in the 200 and 400-yard Freestyle relays as well. The champs in the 200-yard Freestyle event were Horn, Andrew Neher, Hafner and Gilmore. First- place finishers in the 400-yard Freestyle were Hafner, Horn, Lauriski-Adams and Gilmore.
Aiden Neher clocked a personal best of 1:00.54 in the 100-yard Butterfly to claim second place, with teammate Dallan Owens close behind in fourth. Hafner placed second in the 100-yard Freestyle, with a solid time of 53.45, while Andrew Neher and Lauriski-Adams rounded out the top 10, adding critical points.
The team’s younger swimmers also made a splash, with Sophomore Murdoch Crowell delivering a standout 1:24.07 in the 100-yard Breaststroke.
“Our underclassmen are stepping up in big ways, and that’s been a game-changer for us,” Seiloff said. “It’s so rewarding to see their hard work paying off.”
With these back-to-back victories, Green River is setting the tone for the season.
“We’re building momentum,” Seiloff added. “These boys are hungry, and it’s exciting to think about what’s ahead for this team.”
