Local law enforcement agencies are saying goodbye to some of their own who are retiring from their positions.
On Thursday, January 2, the Green River Police Department (GRPD) announced the retirement of Captain Brad Halter. The next day, January 3, GRPD announced another retirement, this time for Detective Sergeant Fischer. The same day, the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) announced a retirement as well, saying goodbye to Michelle Hall.
The respective agencies issued the following statements regarding these retirements.
GRPD Brad Halter
It is with a profound sense of gratitude and respect that we bid farewell to an exemplary leader, a dedicated officer, and a true asset to the Green River Police Department: Captain Brad Halter. After 20 years of distinguished service, Captain Halter's retirement marks the end of a remarkable chapter, one that has left a lasting mark on this department and the city he so selflessly served.
Throughout his career, Captain Halter was a beacon of excellence, a standard-bearer for professionalism, and a mentor to all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His commitment to public safety went far beyond the call of duty, and his influence was felt not only within the department but throughout the entire community.
Captain Halter was particularly exceptional in his work with DUI enforcement, where his tireless efforts led to countless lives being saved and countless dangerous drivers being removed from the roads. His dedication to this cause was second to none, and his leadership in this area was instrumental in shaping the department's success. Additionally, his time as a canine officer highlighted his ability to connect with and lead others, demonstrating time and time again his passion for service, his devotion to his K-9 partner, and his unwavering commitment to the mission.
Beyond his technical accomplishments, Captain Halter's leadership was defined by his integrity, wisdom, and ability to inspire those around him. He set the bar high and led by example, always going above and beyond to ensure the safety and well-being of the people he served and the officers he led.
It is with both pride and sadness that we see him go. His retirement is a tremendous loss to the Green River Police Department and to the city that benefited so greatly from his service. We know that the impact of his work will continue to resonate for many years to come.
Thank you, Captain Halter, for your outstanding 20 years of service. Your commitment to this department and community will never be forgotten. You have truly made a difference, and for that, we are forever grateful.
GRPD Detective Sergeant Fischer
Today, we are saying goodbye to Detective Sergeant Fischer, who is retiring after an incredible 24 years of service with the Green River Police Department.
From his early days on patrol to his time as a Detective, Sergeant Fischer filled many roles during his career. He served as a Field Training Officer, shaping the next generation of officers with the knowledge and wisdom he gained over the years. His time in Detectives saw him rise through the ranks to the position of Detective Sergeant, where he would finish out his career.
While his professional achievements are remarkable, the role he is most proud of is being a father to all his children. His dedication to his children reflects the same passion and commitment he showed to his work.
Though we will miss him here at the Green River Police Department, the good news is that he won't be far. We are happy to share that he has taken a new position with the City and we look forward to seeing him around from time to time.
Detective Sergeant Fischer, thank you for your years of service and your unwavering dedication to our community. We wish you all the best in your next chapter and know you'll continue to make a positive impact wherever you go.
