The Green River Wolves Boys Swimming and Diving team put on a strong showing at the Laramie Holiday Invitational last weekend, paving the way with standout individual performances and solid relay results. Facing tough competition in their return to the pool after the short holiday break, the Wolves delivered a spirited effort that highlighted their depth and determination.
During the Pre-Invite on Friday, Senior Colin Gilmore stole the spotlight in the 50-yard Freestyle, sprinting to a first-place finish with a blazing time of 23.09. Gilmore also demonstrated his versatility with a second-place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke (59.55), solidifying his role as a key contributor for Green River. On Saturday, Gilmore lead the Wolves, placing first in the 200 and 500-yard Freestyle events. In the relays, he joined teammates Mitchell Horn, Sam Dockter, and Vance Lauriski-Adams to earn second in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:52.49.
The Wolves' depth in sprint events was on full display, with Senior Andrew Neher finishing third in the 50-yard Freestyle (24.70) and fourth in the 100-yard Freestyle (56.86). Neher also contributed to a third-place finish in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay alongside Horn, Hafner, and Sam Dockter, clocking 1:42.44.
Dockter, a freshman standout, continued to impress with an eighth-place finish in the 100-yard Freestyle (58.77) and a solid showing in the 50-yard Freestyle (26.04). His consistent improvement and contributions to multiple relays have made him an integral part of the Wolves' lineup.
Mitchell Horn shined in both individual and relay events, securing fifth in the 100-yard Butterfly (1:05.40) and leading his relay teams to top finishes. Hafner added to Green River's strength with seventh in the 100-yard Butterfly (1:05.73) and a strong performance in the relays.
The Wolves also excelled in diving, with Senior Keegan Gailey placing second in the 1-meter Diving event with a score of 238.85 on Friday and a solid third place on Saturday. Divers Tieler Ballard and Johnny Renfro added to the team's depth, finishing eighth and eleventh, respectively.
Relay success has been a hallmark of Green River's season, and the Laramie meet was no exception. The Wolves placed third in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a team of Gilmore, Neher, Dockter, and Lauriski-Adams (1:54.00). The depth in relays extended to the B teams, which earned competitive times and valuable experience.
The Wolves showcased their ability to compete across all strokes and distances, with contributions from every corner of the roster. Lauriski-Adams added points in the 100-yard Butterfly and 100-yard Backstroke, while Logan Gray and Kaiden Dodson turned in solid swims to strengthen Green River's overall performance.
As the Wolves continue their march through the season, Head Coach Colleen Seiloff has much to be excited about. With standout performances from seniors, promising efforts from freshmen, and a growing list of State qualifiers, Green River is poised to make a splash in 4A competition.
"This was a great meet to measure where we are as a team," said Seiloff. "The kids swam hard, and I'm proud of how they're pushing each other to improve. With every meet, we're seeing growth, and that's exactly what we want at this point in the season."
With momentum building and the State meet inching closer, the Wolves are showing they have the talent, depth, and drive to compete with the best in Wyoming.
