The Green River Wolves Boys Swimming and Diving team showed no signs of slowing down this past weekend, claiming victory in two consecutive home meets and solidifying themselves as a powerhouse in Wyoming swimming. Dominating the scoreboard with 353 points, Green River outpaced second-place Lyman at 219 points and left the rest of the field in their wake.
"It was so nice to be at home after competing in Laramie last week," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "The kids had the chance to swim different events on Friday and then a stronger lineup on Saturday, and they all did really well both days. I'm so proud of how far they've come since the start of the season."
A key weekend storyline was the emergence of Freshman Sam Dockter, who continues to establish himself as a rising star. Dockter claimed third in the 100-yard Butterfly on Friday with a time of 1:01.59 and followed up with a third-place finish in the 100-yard Backstroke on Saturday, clocking 1:03.29. He also swam crucial legs in the Wolves' 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle Relays, helping the team secure valuable points.
"Sam has been an incredible addition to the team," said Seiloff. "He's already qualified in two events and is proving to be a valuable asset for us. We're so excited to see his continued growth."
While Dockter is one of several promising underclassmen, Green River's seniors played a pivotal role in leading the team's success. With seven seniors on the roster, their leadership, experience, and dedication have set the tone for the season.
"The seniors are doing a fantastic job leading this group," Seiloff said. "They've stepped up to motivate the underclassmen and keep everyone focused. This is their last season, and they're determined to make it count."
Among the seniors, Aiden Neher delivered several standout performances. Neher placed third in the 50-yard Freestyle on Friday (25.05) and stepped up to claim second on Saturday (24.42), showcasing his ability to rise to the occasion. He also took third in the 100-yard Butterfly on Friday with a strong 1:00.84 and contributed significantly to the Wolves' successful relay efforts. Aiden Zimmerman also shined, delivering strong performances in the sprints and relays that contributed crucial points to the team's victories.
Mitchell Horn added depth and consistency to the team's performance, winning the 100-yard Breaststroke on Friday with a time of 1:12.44. Horn also secured second place in the 100-yard Backstroke on Saturday with a 1:03.24 and was a key member of the Wolves' relay teams. Another valuable swimmer on the team this year is Ashton Hafner. His strength helped claim two first-place finishes in the 200 and 400 Yard Relay events.
Green River's dominance extended beyond the pool to the diving boards, where they showcased impressive depth. Keegan Gailey led the charge, securing first place in the 1-meter Diving event on both days with scores of 268.25 on Friday and 274.85 on Saturday. His teammates, Tyler Ballard and Johnny Renfro, joined him in qualifying for state over the weekend, placing second and third, respectively.
"Our divers have been fantastic," said Seiloff. "Adding Tyler and Johnny to our list of qualifiers is a huge boost, and I'm so proud of how hard they've worked."
The team's success is bolstered by the contributions of its younger swimmers, who are quickly making their mark. Dockter is joined by fellow freshman Kyan Draper, who impressed with significant time drops and consistent improvement.
"Kyan has made great strides since last year," Seiloff said. "He's an exciting swimmer to watch, and we're looking forward to his continued development."
Junior Andrew Neher added to the Wolves' depth with a series of strong performances, including key relay contributions. Meanwhile, Senior Colin Gilmore continued his streak of solid swims, anchoring the 400-yard Freestyle Relay and placing second in the 500-yard Freestyle with a time of 5:06.27 on Saturday.
As the Wolves head into the holiday break, the team's focus shifts to intensive training. They plan to capitalize on six consecutive days of practice.
"This training block is such an important part of our season," said Seiloff. "We'll focus on endurance, technique, and getting stronger. The kids are ready to put in the work."
With 10 state qualifiers already, including three divers, and several swimmers on the brink of earning their spots, Green River is poised for an exceptional season.
"This team is special," Seiloff said. "Everyone is working hard, pushing each other, and enjoying the process. I couldn't be prouder of how they've come together."
As the Wolves prepare for the Christmas Invite in Laramie next weekend, their balance of experienced seniors, rising underclassmen, and a strong team dynamic promises an exciting path ahead. Green River has shown they are not just competing in 4A but thriving-and they're only getting started.
