Lady Wolves claim three victories

The Green River Lady Wolves Basketball team faced four teams over the past weekend at the Flaming Gorge Classics.

On Thursday, the Lady Wolves went up against Rawlins. At halftime the score was 35-7 with the Lady Wolves in the lead. The final score was 56-22, with the team winning by 34 points. Leading the team was Isabel Vasco with 15 points, Sophia Arnold with 12 points, Addison Demaret with eight points, and Nicole Wilson with eight points.

On Friday, the Lady Wolves went up against two teams, Kemmerer and Pinedale. The Lady Wolves faced Kemmerer at 9:40 a.m. At halftime the score was 39-12, with the Lady Wolves in the lead. The final score was 64-18, with the team winning by 46 points. In the fourth quarter, there was a running clock. Leading the team was Demaret with 18 points. She had six three-pointers in the first half of the game. Vasco had 10 points, Wilson had nine points, and Arnold had eight points.

The team faced Pinedale at 4:20 p.m. At halftime the score was 27-21, with the Lady Wolves in the lead. The final score was 61-55, with the team winning by six points. Leading the team was Vasco with 28 points, 15 of which were free-throws. Wilson had nine points, Eva Murray had eight points, Demaret had seven points, and Arnold had six points.

On Saturday, the Lady Wolves faced a tough game with Mountain View at 2 p.m. During the game there was 10 lead changes. At halftime the score was 29-31, with Mountain View in the lead. The game went into overtime with a score of 50-50 in the fourth quarter. The final score was 52-58, with the Lady Wolves losing by six points. Leading the team was Wilson with 17 points, with 15 of those being in the second half. Eastman had 11 points, Demaret had 10 points, Killpack and Arnold had seven points.

"Our conditioning really paid off," explained Head Coach Clinton Landon, "especially with the two games on Friday and an early game in the morning on Saturday."

Vasco stayed out of the Mountain View game due to a trip up during the Pinedale game, and Coach Landon and Vasco both decided to keep her out of this game to get some rest. Still, the entire team worked hard to face their opponent.

"It was a big team effort and it was fun to watch the team to start coming together," said Coach Landon.

The Lady Wolves will have two weeks off during the Christmas Break and will head to the Cheyenne Invite. On Thursday, January 9, The Lady Wolves will play Cheyenne Central. On Friday, January 10, the team will play Wheatland. On Saturday, January 11, the team will play Southeast High School.

"Central is one of the top teams. It is going to be a challenge for us," explained Coach Landon.
