The Green River Lady Wolves Basketball team played their first three games of the season over this past weekend in Casper.
On Thursday, the team played Sheridan for their first game. The final score was 36 - 53, with the Lady Wolves losing by 17 points.
Head Coach Clinton Landon explained that "the team was just a little bit nervous heading into their first game of the season."
During the first quarter of the game, the Lady Wolves were tied with Sheridan at 11-11.
"I felt they came out and just went head to head with the defending state champs," explained Coach Landon. "I was pretty proud of the team."
Addison Demaret lead the Lady Wolves with 12 points and six assists, and Isabel Vasco led the team with six rebounds.
On Friday, the Lady Wolves played against Arvada West, Colorado for their second game. The final score was 43 - 53, with the Lady Wolves losing by 10 points.
"Arvada has a really good team," Coach Landon explained. "They are a lot like us, they had some big posts and some good shooters."
Since Arvada West is a 6A school, Coach Landon explained that "we just had one bad quarter, where we kind of let them get out in a big lead and we did not come back."
Nicole Wilson led the team with 11 points and nine rebounds, and Isabel Vasco led the team with five assists.
On Saturday, the team played against Laramie for their last game. The final score was 59-47, with the Lady Wolves winning by 12 points.
"I think we ran our best defense on Saturday against Laramie," explained Coach Landon.
Coach Landon said that "the team was really unselfish during the game, they moved the ball around the court well. It was a good way to end the weekend."
The Lady Wolves were on the free throw line 29 times during this game.
Isabel Vasco led the Lady Wolves with 18 points, Sydnie Eastman led the team with eight rebounds and Addison Demaret had five assists.
Coach Landon explained that some of the weakness over the past weekend was making sure that the team is always running through their offense. Even when it gets broken down, they just have to reset and try again.
The strengths of the Lady Wolves over the weekend was being "unselfish and doing a good job at being good teammates," said Coach Landon. "Sophia Arnold was having a really good day on Saturday and everyone was trying to get her the ball."
After the past weekend, overall Addison Demaret leads the team with 10 three-pointers, Nicole Wilson leads the team with 33 points, and Sydnie Eastman leads the team with 12 steals and 20 rebounds.
