Green River High School's Drama Department is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of "Let the Right One In," adapted by Jack Thorne from the Swedish novel and film by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Directed by Bradlee Skinner, this haunting tale of friendship, love, and survival will captivate audiences with its dark atmosphere and powerful performances.
The story follows the lonely Oskar, played by Davin Welch, as he forms an unlikely friendship with Eli, portrayed by Ray Meyers, a mysterious new neighbor with a dark secret. Their connection deepens as they navigate the dangers of school bullying, represented by Harrison Hopkin's portrayal of the menacing Jonny, and the eerie presence of Eli's caretaker, Hakan, played by Payton Shiner. Rhiannon Schultz rounds out the main cast as Police Commissioner Halmberg, who is determined to solve the unsettling events happening in the small town. Jeremy Neher and Ryann Bode act as doubles to play Hakan and Eli, providing additional effects to this eerie production. Neher is Hakan post-acid, where his face will be melted and deteriorate in appearance. Bode plays a vampiric Eli, with eyes black and filled with rage and fear. These creative aspects of character choice bring the play together to become an intriguing and dramatic piece of emotion, danger, and intensity.
Director Bradlee Skinner has taken special care in bringing this eerie and emotional story to life, blending horror and human tenderness elements. "Let the Right One In" challenges its audience to think about what it means to truly belong while facing the darkness that sometimes lurks beneath the surface.
