Officials react to the General Election

Current and former Wyoming officials shared their thoughts on the results of the 2024 General Election after the results came in.

Governor Mark Gordon released the following statement after the General Election:

“We are blessed to live in America where our voices are heard. They have been!

I look forward to working with our newly elected leaders to continue doing what’s right for Wyoming. Congratulations to President-elect Trump, Senator Barrasso, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman, and all the newly elected state and local leaders here in Wyoming.”

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, released the following statement after President Donald J. Trump was elected the 47th President of the United States:

“President Trump’s victory today is a mandate from the American people to get this country back on track. Millions chose a new President who puts America first. We chose a President who values our freedom, not the heavy-hand of Washington bureaucrats. We chose a President who will unleash American energy, secure the border, lower prices, and restore peace through strength.

President Trump’s agenda runs through the Republican-led United States Senate. Working together, we will deliver for the American people.”

Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder released the following statement regarding the 2024 Election Results:

“Today is a victory for Wyoming. Congratulations to President Trump, Senator John Barrasso, Congresswoman Harriet Hageman, and our conservative state legislators for leading the charge in preserving our Wyoming way of life. I am proud to stand with them.

While Wyoming thrives on local control and Western independence, the Biden-Harris administration’s agenda has piled on inflation, imposed reckless border policies, and threatened our land rights. The left’s radical agenda has left hardworking families struggling, but Wyoming has resoundingly shown we won’t back down.

With new conservative victories in our state legislature, I look forward to working hand-in-hand with our legislators to defend parental rights, protect our land, and ensure that our schools instill the values that make Wyoming great.

With renewed leadership, we’re ready to restore American prosperity, honor our values, and keep Wyoming strong and free.”

Former Wyoming Congresswoman Liz Cheney issued the following statement about the results of the 2024 election:

“Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night and we have a new President-elect. All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years. Citizens across this country, our courts, members of the press and those serving in our federal, state and local governments must now be the guardrails of democracy.”
