Cross Country team competes at home

The Green River High School Cross Country team faced competition at home last weekend.

The Wolves had a home meet at the Rolling Greens Country Club Golf Course last Friday. Green River faced four other teams, going up against Fort Washakie, Lander, Rock Springs and Manilla, Utah.

Despite the Green River Wolves team only running on the course a couple of times, the girls team placed first and the boys got second place. The girls team all placed in the top 10 and the boys team had four athletes place in the top 10 as well.

The Wolves had some tough terrain to run across with the rolling hills at the golf course. Head Coach Craig Leavitt said "the hills were at the beginning of the race and at the end," adding that "it was not a real flat course."

Hunter Rushing and Alekzandar Johnson had PRs (personal records) at the meet, according to Coach Leavitt.

The Wolves will head to Regionals in Rock Springs tomorrow, with the first race starting at 1 p.m.
