The Green River Police Department recently promoted another patrol officer to the rank of sergeant. A pinning ceremony was hosted for newly promoted Sergeant Lars Nandrup during the October 15 City Council meeting.
"From day one he showed relentless passion to be the best officer that he can be," Police Chief Shaun Sturlaugson said of Nandrup during the pinning ceremony.
Sturlaugson explained that Nandrup chose to pursue a career in law enforcement later in life, and has been with the GRPD for four years. He said that Nandrup is always studying and seeking to learn more, and is regularly asking questions that help both him and those around him continue to learn.
Beyond his desire to be a good police officer, Nandrup has shown a knack for helping others become better as well, according to Sturlaugson, which extends to everyone in the department at every level.
"That's leadership - making others better around you," Sturlaugson said.
The police chief also noted that it's not common to see so much growth and maturity in someone who has only been an officer for a few years, but he said he is confident that Nandrup will fill his new role as sergeant well.
