The Green River High School Cross Country took on a challenging course and came away with some personal records during recent competition.
The Wolves headed for the Lyman XC Invite hosted by Lyman High School on Wednesday last week. Green River faced four other teams, going up against Evanston, Lyman, Mountain View and Rock Springs.
The boys and girls teams both placed second overall, with three athletes from the girls team being in the top 10, and three athletes from the boys team being in their top 10 as well.
Head Coach Craig Leavitt said the area where they ran had “switchbacks and a lot of rocky areas, so the course was not an easy course” for the team.
“There were more personal records for this race, while Brake Covington had a personal record of a minute and a half,” added Coach Leavitt. There was also an athlete from the boys team that got moved from the JV team to the Varsity team after this meet.
The Wolves will have a home meet on Friday, October 11 at the Rolling Greens Country Club Golf Course. The race will start at 11.
“The team is ready to run on another golf course,” said Coach Leavitt. This is a newer course for the Wolves as the team has only run it a couple of times.
