Cross Country team faces tough competition in Saratoga

The Green River High School Cross Country team faced new competition last week.

The Wolves headed for the Shana Ward Memorial meet hosted by Saratoga last Friday. Green River faced a total of 10 other teams, going up against Cheyenne, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Pine Bluffs, Rawlins, Rock River, Rock Springs, Saratoga and Ethete.

The Varsity girls team did a good job at this meet, with one athlete being in the top 15. Isabelle Murdock finished the race in 11th place with a time of 22:01.95. The meet was hosted on a golf course, which was the first time the team has competed on a golf course this season.

Although they didn’t finish as high in the rankings during the Saratoga meet, many Green River athletes improved on their times from previous weeks.

The next meet will be on Friday, October 11. The meet is the Green River Invitational located at home, and is the team’s only home meet for the entire season. The meet will start at 11 a.m. at the Rolling Greens Country Club Golf Course.
