Green River High School announces new softball coach

The Green River High School Athletic Department recently announced the hiring of a new head coach for the Softball program.

Mark Hyde has been selected as the new Green River High School Head Softball Coach. Mark has been an Assistant Softball Coach for Green River High School for the past four seasons, according to a district press release, and was instrumental in helping the program get up and running four years ago.

"We are extremely excited to have Mark Hyde on board as our new Green River High School Head Softball Coach," Sweetwater County District No. 2 Activities Director Tony Beardsley said. "Mark is a former standout high school football and baseball player who went on to play college baseball. He brings high energy and a strong desire to help student-athletes achieve success on and off the softball field."

Hyde played high school football and earned All-State Honors and a Super 25 Honorable Mention Selection. He also had a two-time All-State selection for Legion Baseball and received All-Conference Honors for high school basketball. He was a baseball pitcher and shortstop in college at Utah State University - Eastern, and a softball umpire in Laramie, Wyoming.

Hyde graduated from Lovell High School in 2007. He earned an Associates of Science Degree from Utah State University – Eastern, a Bachelors of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Wyoming, a Masters of Science in School Counseling from UW, and a Masters of Divinity from Amridge University in Alabama.

Coaching experience for Hyde includes being an assistant football coach at Lincoln Middle School from 2021 to 2024, as well as being an assistant softball coach at Green River High School from 2021 to 2024.

Hyde is currently employed by SCSD No. 2 as a counselor at Green River High School. He is also an active member in the Army National Guard as a Chaplain. Hyde is married to his wife Jessica and they have three children – six-year-old Jackson, three-year-old Camden, and one-and-a-half-year-old Easton.

"I'm extremely excited to take on the Softball head coaching position at Green River High School," Hyde said. "My goal is to provide a softball program that not only succeeds on the field, but, more importantly, develops young women who go on to become outstanding people throughout their life."
