From the RSPD:

The morning of Thursday, September 26, during a scheduled evacuation drill at Rock Springs High School, a teacher was made aware of a weapon on campus and immediately contacted administration and confiscated the weapon.

Law enforcement from the Rock Springs Police Department were still on campus due to the evacuation drill and responded immediately by detaining the juvenile. After law enforcement involvement, it was determined that the weapon was a firearm. Due to the teacher’s quick actions, all students and staff were safe.

At this time, the juvenile has been arrested and charges will be filed. Due to the suspect’s age, more information will not be released.

We would like to thank Sweetwater County School District One and Rock Springs High School staff for their support and quick action during this event.
