The Green River High School Golf Junior Varsity team attended the Kemmerer Invitational this past Tuesday where two golfers, Sophomore Oliver Akin and Freshman Aiden Mandros, shot their personal best rounds. After two weeks of competition, Sophomore Brody Fuller posted low enough scores to make the Varsity roster for Evanston.
With the completion of the Rock Springs High School Tiger Invitational last week, the Varsity team is officially half-way through the season.
The boys team continues to improve and impress. They once again had two golfers in the top 20, with Junior Adam Robertson medaling in sixth place after coming in with an incredible just two over par 74 on day two and Senior Kaleb Gunter coming in at 14th with a day two 76. Sophomore Roman Brown shot a career low 83 on day one and the boys team placed fifth overall. This is the first time in Assistant Coach Danielle Salas' tenure and only the second time in Coach Eyre's that they have had two boys shoot rounds in the 70s at the same tournament.
"We are proud of the hard work and dedication of the entire team, and excited to see what everyone can do in the postseason," Coach Eyre said.
Mylie Mele was the solo golfer on the Lady Wolves team and came in 18th overall. She continues to improve every tournament.
"Mylie never gives up," Coach Salas said. "She has a ton of grit, and we are pleased to see her scores come down every week."
The Wolves Junior Varsity heads to Pinedale this coming Tuesday, while Varsity will compete at a one-day tournament in Evanston on Wednesday.
