The GRHS Varsity Golf Team played their first competition last week.

The Green River High School Golf team kicked off their fall season by hosting their home invitational. According to Head Coach Karly Eyre, this was the biggest non-conference, non-post-season tournament she's hosted.
"This may be the biggest tournament we've ever had, with 12 total teams and over 120 golfers," she said. "I know that it is definitely the biggest tournament I've hosted in my time as head coach."
Teams in attendance included Green River, Rock Springs, Evanston, Lyman, Pinedale, Riverton, Laramie, Jackson, Kemmerer, Star Valley, Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.
The GRHS boys' team posted one of their lowest two-day totals in five years. Four boys, Sophomores Jacoby Bundy and Roman Brown, Junior Adam Robertson and Senior Kaleb Gunter, all posted their personal best scores. Gunter was the team standout, posting scores of 83/79.
The Lady Wolves had a full team take the course, with Junior Ashlyn Drinkle and the freshmen duo of Raelie Pate and Payton Dodge golfing in their very first tournament. Junior and team veteran Mylie Mele posted the teams' best score, coming in with a 116/108.
Coach Eyre expressed her satisfaction with the team's performance.
"I am proud of the kids playing well in such a big field of strong competitors," she said. "They really showed up and performed well week one. I also really appreciate all the help from everyone that helped such a big tournament run so smoothly."
Other tournament results include Cheyenne East taking the lead in the boys' division and Evanston winning on the ladies' side.
The Wolves tee up next at Rendezvous Meadows Golf Course in Pinedale for the Pinedale Wrangler Invitational.
The team said they would like to extend a special thanks to Rolling Green County Club, especially Connor and his crew; to the Pinedale and Lyman coaching staff for their help with the scoring table; to Athletic Director Tony Beardsley; and to the families who provided the items for the coach's hospitality.
