Barrasso attends River Festival Cajun Shrimp Boil

In what has become an annual tradition, Senator John Barrasso attended River Festival, ceremonially kicking off the Cajun Shrimp Boil this past Friday.

Barrasso, currently up for reelection for a fourth term, has visited River Festival every year since he took office in 2007.

"I never miss it," he said. "I have loved visiting Green River for the River Festival since I first took office, I believe this is my sixteenth year attending."

While there, Barrasso took time to visit with multiple media outlets and many constituents, discussing border security, tackling inflation, and protecting Wyoming jobs.

He also took time to have a conversation with resident and first-time voter Isabell Salas. Both share a love for the game of golf, but also discussed the importance of the upcoming election.

"I have been lucky enough to meet Senator Barrasso on numerous occasions this past year, and he always takes time to have actual conversations with me about my future and the challenges facing Wyoming," Salas said. "As a first-time voter this has definitely had an impact on my perception of our election process and how lucky we are that our elected officials here in Wyoming make themselves accessible for all voters."

Salas laughed as she added, "As a college golfer I also love talking golf with Senator Barrasso, who is somewhat of a golf history expert. He can tell you how far Bryson DeChambeau can hit his drives like it's common knowledge, and of course I love that about him."

Barrasso's stop in Green River was one of many events he has attended over the past few weeks. Other events included the Wyoming Congressional Award Golf Tournament, Carbon County Stock Growers Social, the Cheyenne Pink Ribbon Run, and the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce State of the Nation luncheon that was also attended by Congresswoman Harriet Hageman. Senator Bartasso attends many of these events annually and not just during election season, noting that these events are important so that the "people of Wyoming can share their thoughts and helps me better understand how I can better serve them."
