As the golden days of summer wane and the scent of freshly sharpened pencils lingers in the air, it's time for the community to come together and ensure every student is ready for the upcoming school year. Donation Station is rallying the community to support local students through its annual "Stuff the Bus" event. This year, the event promises to be bigger and more impactful, aiming to collect essential school supplies for students in need.
The "Stuff the Bus" campaign will take place across multiple locations, offering several opportunities for community members to contribute, including Green River locations.
This year, the Green River Police Department is participating in the event.
"Stop by anytime from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. -5 p.m. to drop off school supplies donation in the GRPD Lobby," the GRPD Facebook page posted.
There will also be a donation day in the Walmart parking lot in Rock Springs this Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Donation Station is calling for a variety of school supplies, with backpacks identified as the most needed item. Other requested items include dry-erase markers, Kleenex, Ziploc bags, calculators, binders, disinfectant wipes, headphones, pencil boxes or pouches, highlighters, glue sticks, scissors, pens, pencils, crayons, and books. Monetary donations are also welcomed to help meet any additional needs.
Back-to-school time is critical for students, and having the necessary supplies can make a significant difference in their learning experience. The "Stuff the Bus" initiative not only aims to equip students with supplies but also to ease the financial burden on families. The collected items will be distributed at the beginning of August. Students must be present to receive the supplies.
Donation Station's efforts underscore the importance of community involvement in supporting education. By ensuring that every student has the tools they need, the "Stuff the Bus" event helps set the stage for a successful school year.
