Knights take down Cutthroats and Bandits

The Green River Knights American Legion Baseball team started their season at the end of April.

For the Knights' first game of the season they played the Jackson Giants. The game resulted in the Knights losing with a score of 3-18. Next the Knights played the Rock Springs Stallions and they won with a score of 12-2.

Moving into May, the Knights played the Stallions on May 13. Green River won with a score of 14-4. On May 19, the Knights played against the Laramie Rangers and had a hard loss with a score of 0-15. The Knights then played the Stallions for the third time on the same day. Green River lost the game with a final score of 1-10. On May 21, the Knights played the Evanston Outlaws. The game resulted in another loss for the Knights with a close final score of 10-15. On May 26, the Knights played two games against the Saratoga Cutthroats. The Knights won the first game with a final score of 12-0 and won the second with a final score of 14-1.

Continuing their winning streak, the Knights played two games last Monday against the Rawlins Bandits. In the first inning of the first game, the Knights took the lead and scored two runs to the Bandits' zero. In the third inning, the Knights scored five runs to the Bandits' zero. The Knights continued to conquer in the fourth inning, scoring two runs to the Bandits' zero. Finally in the sixth inning the Knights scored one run to the Bandits' zero. The game resulted in the Knights dominating with a final score of 10-0.

Leading the team were Bracken Lail, Dallyn Buschelman, and Jace Paoli with two runs each. Karson Hansen, Ben Lail, and Kamden Liebelt scored one run each.

In the second game against the Bandits, during the first inning, the Knights scored three runs to the Bandits' zero, quickly taking the lead. In the third inning, the Knights scored three runs to the Bandits' zero, staying strong. Then in the forth inning the Knights scored two runs against the Bandits' zero. And finally, in the fifth inning, the Knights scored one run to the Bandits' zero. The game resulted in the Knights winning by a landslide with a final score of 10-0.

Leading the team was Buschelman with three runs. He was followed by Ben Lail and Ryker Dane with two runs each. Brackin Lail, Paoli, Lander Welch and Oliver Akin had one run each. Green River's Welch, Ben Lail and Liebelt stole multiple bases during the game.

The Knights will travel to Riverton this weekend to compete in the Roy Peck Invitational tournament May 31 through June 2.
