Sheriff's office announces civilian firearms training

Our firearms training staff is pleased to announce this year’s civilian firearms and concealed carry training schedule.

This year, we are offering two basic classes. Each class features a combination of classroom instruction and shooting exercises. The training emphasizes firearms familiarization and safety, and topics include grip, stance, sight picture, trigger control, holster considerations, firearms storage, and more.

Our two scheduled classes this year are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, and Saturday, August 17.

There is a $30 registration fee for each class. Each class satisfies the state’s training requirement for a concealed carry permit. In addition to a personal firearm in good condition and proper working order, participants are required to supply a suitable belt or paddle holster for their firearm, suitable eye and ear protection, and a minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition. Participants are also reminded to dress appropriately for the weather.

To register for a class or if you have questions, please contact Kitty at (307) 352-4901.
