On Tuesday, April 23, the Green Rivers High School Boys and Girls Track and Field team traveled west to Evanston High School to compete in the Rick and Wendy Schuler Invitational with Mountain View, Kemmerer, Star Valley, Pinedale, Rock Springs, Lyman and the host Evanston.
The meet was another opportunity for the individual competitors to improve their performances and try to qualify for post-season competition. Coach Hanson was pleased with the results as a number of both boys and girls improved on their best efforts so far this year.
This past Friday, several Green River High School track athletes also qualified to compete in the Wyoming Classic Track Invitational, formerly known as the Meet of Champions.
For the boys, Senior Chris Wilson placed fourth in the Long Jump with a leap of 21-9.025 and sixth in the 300 Meter Hurdles with a time of 40.47.
The Lady Wolves who placed included Freshman Nicole Wilson, who took seventh in the Long Jump, clearing 4-09. Lillian Allison, a junior, competed in both the Track Throws, taking third in the Discus, throwing 119-01, and eighth in the Shot Put with a throw of 35-04.50.
On Tuesday, the Track and Field team traveled to Mountain View to compete in the Jeff Hereford Invitational against six teams from around southwest Wyoming. Results will be posted in next week's edition.
This Friday, the Wolves will travel to Jackson to compete in the Lynn Williams Memorial Invite against four other teams.
