Local students win at State Young Authors competition

Eight talented students from Sweetwater County School District No. 2 emerged victorious at the state 2024 Young Authors competition! Two additional students received Honorable Mention recognition.

Young Authors is a writing and poetry competition that begins at the local level. Winners then progress to the county level, and finally, the top entries from each county compete at the state level.

SWCSD No. 2 students impressed the judges at every stage. At the elementary level, two students were recognized for their exceptional writing. Lincoln Middle School continued the district's winning streak with three student champions and one honorable mention. Green River High School added to the celebration with another four students winning in their respective categories.

A big congratulations to all the students who participated in Young Authors! Special recognition goes to the eight state champions and two honorable mentions from Sweetwater County School District No. 2.

Reese Eastman, 11th grade at Green River High School for "My Revelation of Bear Hunting"

Gavyn Harsha, 12th grade at Green River High School for "Depths of Desolation"

Maisie Peter, 12th grade at Green River High School for "Alcohol is My Enemy"

Bethany Farmer, 12th grade at Green River High School for "Wings of a Butterfly"
