This past Wednesday, the Green River Wolves Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Wrestling teams returned to the friendly confines of Wolves Gym on Senior Night to take on the Evanston Red Devils. The Varsity team defeated Evanston 62-12.
Evanston did not bring a girls team, so the Lady Wolves had the night off.
The meet marked the return of Green River’s three-time State champion senior, Kale Knezovich, who has been sidelined until now by an early-season injury.
The Wolves Boys and Girls Wrestling teams then traveled to Rock Springs on Thursday to take on the Tigers in their last regularly scheduled meet prior to West Regionals in Riverton Friday and Saturday, February 16 and 17. The boys Varsity beat Rock Springs 51-21. The girls meet did not keep team scores. The boys J.V. also defeated Rock Springs, with a final score of 49-6.
After the meet, Head Wrestling Coach Josh Wisniewski commented that the Rock Springs dual went well and he was “happy with how JV, Girls Varsity and Boys Varsity competed” and “excited to get Kale back into the line-up.”
Coach Wisniewski continued: “We are going to prepare the team to be ready for Regionals with the hope it sets us up well for State. Just want to compete and get better everyday.”
