John Lewis Elliott

John Lewis Elliott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 19 at the age of 74. Known for his infectious sense of humor, John's playful spirit left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Born to Barbara May Hasten Elliott and Hollie Elliott on October 14, 1949, in Mineola, Texas, John touched the lives of many with his warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. He leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and a profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to share a laugh with him.

John proudly served in the United States Marines for 13 years, dedicating himself to the principles of duty, honor, and freedom. He continued his commitment to protecting his community as a dedicated police officer, sheriff deputy, and detective for many years, including serving the Sweetwater County, Wyoming Sheriff's Office for five years.

When not chasing miscreants, John was chasing pipes across the world as a welder, inspector, or senior advisor.

A devoted family man, John was known for his generosity, compassion, and the ability to find joy in simple pleasures. He had a passion for guns and a deep love for protecting freedom, values that shaped his life and inspired those around him. John had a way of turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories with his lighthearted approach to life.

John is survived by his loving wife Diane Elliott of Lindale, Texas; his three children Kristy and Tommy Cochran of Tennessee, Robert and Nicole Elliott of Colorado, and Bryan and Lindsey Elliott of Georgia; and his five grandchildren McKenzie Cochran, Ryley Cochran, Amber Elliott, Tyler Elliott, and Bryanna Elliott.

A memorial service was held at Central Baptist Church in Lindale, Texas on Saturday, January 27. Friends and family gathered to celebrate John's life, share stories, and remember the joy he brought to every gathering.

John Lewis Elliott will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. His legacy of service, humor, and dedication to freedom will be remembered with deep gratitude and fondness.
