Wolves place third at two meets

The Green River Wolves Swimming and Diving team has a young group of athletes this year, and they have been keeping up with the competition. In both of their meets last week, the Wolves came in third place.

Green River competed in the Rock Springs Invite against Rock Springs, Evanston and Lyman last Thursday. There were standout performances by Keegan Gailey, who came in first in the One-Meter Diving event, and Colin Gilmore, who came in first in the 200 Yard IM and second in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Mitchell Horn also came in second place in the 200 Yard Freestyle event.

On Friday, Green River competed in the Evanston Invitational against Evanston, Rock Springs, Lyman and Rawlins. Leading the Wolves was Gilmore, taking first place in the 200 and 500 Yard Freestyle events, along with Horn taking third in the 200 Yard IM. All the divers had impressive dives during the One-Meter Diving event, with Gailey taking second, Kuball taking third and Ballard finishing in fifth.

"I was super pleased with this weekend," said Head Coach Colleen Seiloff. "We have really been working on trying to be aggressive and competitive when finishing races, and I could really tell a difference in the meet this weekend and I was really happy with what they did."

Coach Seiloff said they had some good times in the races and she thinks their strokes and techniques are improving a lot. The younger swimmers are really starting to catch on and are making improvements every week. The Wolves gained another qualifier at the Evanston meet and now have 10 qualified swimmers and divers that will be able to compete at State.

On Friday and Saturday the Wolves will travel to Cheyenne to swim against some good competitive teams.
