Wolves Swimming and Diving team competes in Laramie Holiday Invite

The Green River Wolves Swimming and Diving team faced some tough competition on Thursday and Friday when they competed in the Laramie Holiday Invite.

On Thursday, there were 10 teams that competed in the non-scored meet. The teams included Green River, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Jackson, Lander, Laramie and Rawlins. Leading the Wolves were Keegan Gailey in second place and Irie Kuball in fourth place in the 1-Meter Diving event. Colin Gilmore took second place in the 100 Yard Backstroke and third place in the 100 Yard Freestyle, while Logan Wadsworth took eighth in the 500 Yard Freestyle. Andrew Neher took 10th place in the 50 Yard Freestyle and 12th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, while Aiden Neher took ninth place in the 100 Yard Butterfly. Kaiden Dodson took 18th place in the 200 Yard IM and Mitchell Horn got 10th place in the 200 Yard Freestyle.

On Friday there were nine teams that competed. The teams included Green River, Laramie, Lander, Cheyenne Central, Buffalo, Campbell County, Cheyenne East, Rawlins and Jackson. The Wolves got sixth place after two competitive days of swimming and diving.

Head Coach Colleen Seiloff said the boys are swimming tired right now, which is what they expect in the middle of the season. The Wolves also had a few boys that were not competing because of Christmas break, so they were short-handed during this meet. She did see some good time improvements for the younger boys and some good times for the more experienced swimmers.

Diving Coach Rick Barker is very pleased with the divers so far this season. He said Keegan has been doing really well with the upper level dives. Coach Barker's two freshman divers are learning a lot and are stepping up to where he needs them to be. The divers are showing a lot of improvement and are a great asset for the team this year.

Green River will take on the Rock Springs Tigers in Rock Springs tomorrow at 4 p.m. They will then travel to compete against the Evanston Red Devils on Saturday at 10 a.m.
