When it comes to celebrating Halloween, Green River is a great place to be to have some spooky fun!
This week’s paper is our annual Halloween edition with our Trick-or-Treat Map. This special section gives you a handy guide to which businesses in Green River will be handing out candy on Halloween and when you can stop by to pick up a treat. There are over 20 participants downtown and over 30 on the south side of the railroad. With so many great local businesses who are actively involved in the community, kids will have plenty of chances to go around town, show off their costumes, and get some candy in a way that’s both safe and fun!
The fun isn’t just limited to trick-or-treating, either.
This year the City of Green River and Downtown Urban Renewal Agency are putting a twist on their classic Halloween parade, with a Glow in the Dark Halloween Parade taking place Friday night, October 27. The parade will make its way along Flaming Gorge Way from the Clock Tower to North Third West Street, with prizes for the best floats. The event will also include an outdoor movie, food trucks, and fire pits with cider and cocoa starting at 8 p.m. in front of Red White Buffalo. The parade starts at 7 p.m.
Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County will also be hosting a Halloween walk-thru from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, in front of the hospital at 1200 College Drive in Rock Springs. Children and their families can walk through “HalloweenLand” – aka the Dr. Pryich Healing Garden – and stop by trick-or-treat booths as they wind their way to the front of the hospital. From there, they can head down to the cafe for a caramel apple slice and to decorate a mini pumpkin.
Plenty of other fun Halloween activities are happening in both Green River and Rock Springs over the weekend as well. We are proud to live in a community that comes together, organizes exciting events, and gives both children and adults a chance to get out and have fun in a safe way. We hope everyone will take advantage of the many opportunities to have a safe, scary, spooky good time.
And be sure to drop by the Green River Star office on Halloween to show us your costumes and get some candy!
