The Green River High School Golf team hosted the 3A West Golf Conference Championship in Green River this past weekend.
The tournament kicked off with an opening ceremony that included the Green River High School choir singing the National Anthem and Seniors Tyler Castillon and Isabell Salas presenting the flag.
The 3A West Conference teams included Green River, Lyman, Pinedale, Evanston, Powell, Lovell, Cody and Lander.
"Highlights on the boys side for the Wolves included Senior Tyler Castillon's outstanding performance where he shot his personal best round of an 82," Assistant Coach Danielle Salas said. Castillon finished 23rd out of 49 competitors.
Freshman Weston Green also did well, seeing a four-stroke improvement from day one and being only two over par on the front nine on day two.
"Our standout golfer on the boys team was Junior Kaleb Gunter," Coach Salas continued. "Kaleb had two solid rounds of 83/83. He narrowly missed top 10 All Conference honors, coming in at 13th place."
The girls team had two All Conference honorees: Sophomore Mylie Mele and Senior Isabell Salas. Mele shot her personal best competitive round of a 96, finishing at 10th place.
"Senior Isabell Salas pushed hard day two after a tough day one round of a 77," Coach Salas explained. "Isabell shot a beautiful +1, 72 on day two that included three birdies, and finished at second place."
This is Isabell Salas's forth time as an All Conference honoree.
"We are incredibly proud of our team as they have steadily improved throughout the season," Head Coach Karly Eyre said. "Everyone is poised to do well at the State Championship."
The Wolves will head to Worland for the State tournament this weekend.
