This past week the Wolves Tennis team was on the road with mixed results.
On Thursday, August 31 they traveled to Rawlins. The girls beat the Lady Outlaws 3-2. The Lady Wolves’ #1 and #2 Singles players and #1 Doubles team all won their matches, while the #2 and #3 Doubles teams lost. The boys also succeeded in their team competition, winning 4-1, with the only loss coming in a close #1 Singles three-set match.
The teams then traveled to Laramie on Saturday to take on a strong Plainsman contingent in both the boys and girls matches. Green River’s #1 Singles player, Brianna Strauss, was the only winner for the Lady Wolves, coming out victorious in a close match. Laramie beat the Lady Wolves 4-1. The Laramie boys team also defeated the Wolves 4-1, with Green River’s lone win coming from their #3 Doubles team of Kaiden Dodson and Dusten Berg in three sets.
The Wolves have a very busy schedule this week, which started out with cross-town rival Rock Springs coming into Green River on Tuesday. The Wolves will also travel west to take on Torrington today in Laramie.
The Wolves will then host the three Cheyenne high schools, starting with Cheyenne South on Friday 2:30 p.m., then coming back Saturday to compete against Cheyenne East at 9 a.m., and then following up with Cheyenne Central at 1 p.m. This cap on the busy week will help the team keep preparing for Regionals in Cheyenne next Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16.
