Long-time Green River resident Kennard Bigler is celebrating his 90th birthday.
Kennard and his wife Carol were life-long residents of Green River. Kennard worked out at the trona mines for 42 years back when they were operated by FMC Corporation and was a mine supervisor. He was a member of the Green River Roping Club and participated in many rodeos and fairs in the area. He was also a rider in the Pony Express run for a number of years.
Kennard's sons Wes and Terry grew up in Green River. They played sports and graduated from Green River High School in the Classes of 73 and 75. Wes's first job was delivering newspapers for the Green River Star 55 years ago.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Wes moved his parents to Atlanta, Georgia so he could help take care of them and so they could be closer to their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
"My parents still have friends in Green River and miss old Green River a lot," Wes said.
Kennard's 90th Birthday Bash will be celebrated this Saturday, Sept. 9, at 5 p.m. in Atlanta, Georgia.
