The Green River High School Golf team traveled to compete in the Casper Invitational last week and came away with new improvements and insight.
"We had a fairly successful two days of grinding through high temperatures and lots of wind," Assistant Coach Danielle Salas said. "It was definitely worth giving our team a look at the 4A side of things."
One highlight was seeing the entire Natrona County staff turn out to support their team.
The tournament itself had several high points for the Wolves.
On the girls side, Senior Isabell Salas continued to dominate, winning by 11 strokes with a two-day total of 155.
"She is still fighting a cold and is looking forward to getting some much needed rest before heading to Pinedale next week," Coach Salas explained.
Sophomore Mylie Mele also continued to improve and was close to shooting her personal best on day two, shooting a 102.
The boys had some exciting moments throughout the tournament as well.
Sophomore Adam Robertson saw a 10-stroke improvement from day one to day two and had one of his best competitive rounds to date, coming in with a 90 on day two. "One of the best moments of the entire tournament was when Junior Kaleb Gunter had his first Eagle," Coach Salas said, adding that "Kaleb was also our the leader on the boys side with a two-day total of 179."
The varsity team is now officially half way through their season.
"We are pleased with their progress and consistency," Coach Salas said. "We are looking forward to helping them fine tune some parts of their games before we head to the Pinedale Invitational next week."
