The Sweetwater County Board of County Commissioners welcomed a new member, Taylor Jones, to the board this week. We want to congratulate Commissioner Jones for being chosen and wish him and the rest of the commissioners luck moving forward.
We also want to thank Lauren Schoenfeld for her years of work serving Sweetwater County as a commissioner and wish her luck in her future endeavors serving the state of Wyoming with the Governor’s office.
As Jones steps into the vacancy left by Schoenfeld, we are excited to see the new dynamic among the commissioners.
With three new commissioners elected last November who started their service in January, the board has already seen significant change this year. At that point, only Schoenfeld and Mary Thoman had been serving on the commission previously. Now only Thoman is left to share her experience and understanding of ongoing issues and previous decisions made by the commission. We also want to wish her luck as the only female currently on the board!
As all the commissioners continue to form their own dynamic as a board, we hope Jones will be a natural fit who can both offer new perspectives and work cohesively with the others in making decisions.
Due to his experience working with other boards and commissions, Jones seems like a strong choice. We hope those years of experience will come in handy as he hits the ground running midway through the year and gets on board with where things are at so he can start contributing his own insights.
We are curious to see how the commission will address ongoing concerns, what changes they will make, and how they will continue to serve Sweetwater County.
