Another Wolf is ready to become a Cougar.
This week Tanner Mosely signed his letter of intent to play football for Concordia University Chicago in River Forest, Illinois.
Mosely is the second Wolf this year to decide to play for Concordia, following Jeremiah Salmo, who signed his letter of intent a few weeks ago.
Mosely mentioned having a friend going to Concordia as part of the reason for his college choice, but also said a major motivating factor was the friendliness of the coaches, who regularly reached out to him just to see how he was doing.
"The coaches were always in touch with me," Mosely said.
Mosely plays both offensive guard and center, and said he probably likes offensive guard a little better, but enjoys both positions.
"Either way, if I'm playing, it doesn't matter," he said. "I just like the sport, period. Just being in the moment, and just to have the stands and stuff, all the cheering in the background, and just being under the lights - it's been fun."
His football career at Green River High School has been especially fun for Mosely. His favorite thing about playing as a Wolf was "the family that I made on the field, definitely. Just the bonds that we had."
Mosely fondly recalled his freshman year of high school and staying overnight in another town to play football for the first time.
"Being young teenage kids me and my friends decided just to horseplay around in the hotel room," Mosely said with a laugh, noting that the memory has stuck in his brain.
Moving on to college football will come with its own fun memories as well as challenges, but Mosely is looking forward to creating new bonds. He knows that college football is "just the next step."
He also knows that football will continue to help him grow as a person, from teaching practical skills like being on time to more overarching lessons.
"It just teaches you life lessons, just to hussle, just to stick with it and follow dreams," Mosely said.
