Wolves boys soccer loses to Powell and takes a win over Cody

The Green River Wolves Soccer team hosted games last weekend, and the athletes were excited to hit the field. They have entered their sixth week of the season and have lots of makeup games rescheduled.

On Friday, the Wolves lost the conference game against the Powell Panthers with a score of 0-1. The Wolves may not have scored a point, but Eduardo Zarate had seven saves throughout the game, keeping it a low-scoring game.

"We needed to take better care of the ball," said Head Coach Josh Webb. "We turned the ball over and we were unorganized on defense and we need to shoot the ball more." On Saturday, the Wolves won the conference game against the Cody Broncs with a score of 2-1. Braxton Doak and Jackson Gomez were team leaders, each scoring one goal during the game, along with Eduardo Zarate with two saves.

"We moved the ball better and possessed the ball better than we had in the past games," said Coach Webb. "The boys are starting to learn how to play as a team and how to put their team first."

Coach Webb says they are getting better organized on defensive attacks and all in all he feels they have been doing pretty well.

"I'm really proud of the boys," added Coach Webb. "They are really fun to coach and they're really coming together as a team."

The Wolves traveled to play a game against Lander on Tuesday. Green River won the conference game with a final score of 1-0.

The Wolves will travel again to play more conference games this weekend. Green River takes on the Lyman Eagles on Friday, and Saturday they will travel to take on the Mountain View Buffalos.
