It was a team effort for the Green River Wolves during the victorious win against the Pinedale Wranglers last Friday. Braxton Cordova made five goals during the game, along with Stone Rubeck with two goals. Axel Mackinnon, Izyk Arellano and Damien Holmes each made one goal. Cordova, Arellano and Guy Grace had two assists each, along with Rubeck with one assist. The Wolves walked away with their first conference game win of the season with a final score of 10-0.
Head Coach Josh Webb feels they finished the game pretty well.
"We possessed the ball in the midfield good and we've got some good attacking pieces to the team and we regained possession back pretty quick," he said.
Having the opportunity to finally play a game, the team realized they need to work on creating more chances to score goals and take more possessions of the ball. Later in the season when they go up against some harder opponents, they want to be prepared.
"I am proud of them," added Coach Webb. "They have put in a lot of hard work and they're really fun to coach."
Since there is still snow on the ground, Green River has been spending their practices inside at Lincoln Middle School in the evenings. When they are not practicing at Lincoln, they have been spending time breaking down film and getting to know their opponents. The Wolves were scheduled to play Mountain View today but because of the weather the game has been canceled.
