The 4A West Regional Basketball games started last Thursday in Star Valley.
On Thursday, Green River played the Riverton Wolverines in the first game of the day. Green River really tried to take the lead away from Riverton but fell short and lost the game 61-45. The four top scorers were Theran Archibald with 15 points, four rebounds and two assists; Chris Wilson with eight points and four rebounds; Kason Ivie with six points, four rebounds and one assist; and lastly Hunter Lake with six points, two rebounds and one assist.
Green River played their next game on Friday against the Jackson Hole Broncs. The Wolves fell to the Broncs in an unfortunate loss, 53-38. The top scorers were Theran Archibald with 22 points and 5 rebounds, Hunter Lake with six points and five rebounds and Kason Ivie with six points and three assists.
With the loss to Jackson, Green River was eliminated and their season was officially over.
Head Coach Laurie Ivie always had her team ready to play and her team played well together. With the end of the season, the Wolves will be losing four senior players. Coach Ivie really appreciated how the senior players stepped up as “our leaders” this year. Kason Ivie, Caleb Lake, Nate Mitchell and Xander Lindsey displayed grace in the face of high expectations and adversity.
“They always put their teammates first, and showed courageous leadership all season long,” said Coach Ivie. “They are a remarkable group of talented players, dedicated students, loyal teammates, and most of all, good human beings. Nobody better symbolizes the best of what our basketball program stands for than our seniors.”
