Boys and girls Indoor Track medals at Simplot Games

Last week the Green River High School Indoor Track team took nine athletes to compete in the nationally-renowned Simplot Games at Holt Arena on the campus of Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.

Head Track Coach Dan Hansen was pleased with the results as they had four athletes receive medals, and the other athletes that attended either set P.R.s (personal records) or had a great experience.

As a bonus, American thrower Ryan Crouser, currently the best shot putter in the world, was at the meet and threw the shot as an exhibition. While Crouser said he was relaxed as it was simply an exhibition, he surprised everyone, including himself, with a new indoor shot put world record, which was very exciting for all in attendance.

The four competitors that placed for Green River included two boys and two girls. In the Hammer Throw, Senior Trysten Halter took ninth place with a throw of 46-11.00. His team mate and fellow senior Dillon Davis took 12th place with a throw of 45-02.00.

For the girls in the 800 Meter run, Sophomore Isabelle Murdock took 15th, finishing in 2:27.72, while junior Madison Murdock took 24th in 2:32.01.

With weather permitting, the team will be heading to Laramie on Friday for the Laramie Invitational and will be practicing for the State Championships that will take place in Gillette on March 3 and 4.
