The Wolves played Riverton and Cody this past weekend on February 10 and 11. On Friday, the boys played Riverton, ending with a score of 60-49, with Riverton taking the win. Even though the boys came up short, it was a great game to watch.
"Our team worked extremely hard on defense, and played very disciplined on the offense side," said Head Coach Laurie Ivie. Overall she feels it was probably one of the best games they've played all year.
Some of Green River's top scorers during the Riverton game were Theran Archibald with 22 points, seven rebounds and one assist; Hunter Lake with eight points, five rebounds and one assist; Chris Wilson with nine points and three rebounds; and Caleb Lake with six points, two rebounds and seven assists.
On Saturday the Wolves played against Cody. The ending score for this game was 53-38, with the Wolves losing again. This game was definitely different than the Riverton game.
"Cody plays a lot of zone D, and Riverton plays man," explained Coach Ivie.
In this game, Cody was out-rebounding the team by 25 boards and the Wolves weren't able to get control of the ball back enough.
The top scorers in the Cody game were Theran Archibald with 16 points, two rebounds and three assists; Kason Ivie with eight points and two rebounds; Chris Wilson with six points and four rebounds; and Caleb Lake with four points, two rebounds and six assists.
Coach Ivie says basketball is a game of constant momentum shifts. There are times you have momentum and there are times you don't. The Wolves are continuously focusing on improvement and getting better as a team.
The Wolves' next game is going to be today at 7:30 p.m. against Evanston on their home court. Then on Saturday, February 18, Green River will travel to Jackson to play the Broncs.
