Green River Police Department reports for Feb. 5

At 2:04 a.m., officers responded to Trona Drive concerning a vehicle that had crashed into a residence, after which the driver fled the scene. Officers located the suspected driver, gathered information and subsequently placed Dane Landry, of Louisiana, under arrest and issued citations for alleged DWUI - alcohol of 0.08% or more - 1st offense; violation of duty to stop vehicle where accident involves damage to attended vehicle or property; and failure to provide proof of liability coverage. Officers transported Dane to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 5:51 a.m., officers responded to a report of two individuals fighting. Officers met with staff who advised two residents had been involved in an altercation. EMS responded and evaluated the individuals. No transports were made. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 4:26 p.m., officers responded to a threat of violence. Officers met with two individuals who were involved in a verbal dispute. Both individuals requested a trespass warning be issued to the other individual. Officers issued both trespass warnings, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

Feb. 7

At 12:02 a.m., officers responded to the Ponderosa Bar at 41 E Railroad Avenue in reference to a subject removal. The reporting party advised that the subject was in a vehicle spinning their tires behind the bar. Officers observed a subject matching the description walking away in the direction of Railroad Avenue. Officers walked past the vehicle and observed damage to a metal fence directly behind the vehicle. Officers made contact with the subject by the entrance of the American Legion. Officers subsequently placed Nicholas Maes, of Green River, under arrest and issued citations for alleged hit and run - unattended property; disorderly conduct; DWUI alcohol - incapable of safely driving; and interference with peace officer. Officers transported Maes to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident. 

At 9:46 a.m., Animal Control Officers responded to a report of a cat in a trap. Officers impounded the cat and booked it in at the shelter.

At 12:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of E 2 S Street and Uinta Drive and issued the driver, Dacraeon Vines, of Green River, citations for alleged obedience to traffic-control device violation and no valid driver’s license and/or violation of driver’s license conditions.

At 1:11 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upland Way and Buck Drive and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed.

At 1:13 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Upland Way and Hitching Post Drive and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speed. 

At 3:09 p.m., officers responded to a report of an individual violating an active court order. Officers were unable to make contact with the individual. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:30 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Monroe Avenue and Uinta Drive and issued the driver a written warning for alleged left turn at intersections.

At 10:47 p.m., officers responded in reference to a possible violation of a court order. Officers met with an individual who reported being contacted by an individual whom they have a protection order filed against. Officers made contact with the subject, advised of the pending order, gathered information, and completed a report of the incident.

Feb. 8

At 6:13 a.m., officers responded in reference to a subject removal. Officers met with staff who reported one of their residents was involved in an altercation with a staff member. The individual was asked to leave and officers conducted a civil standby until the individual left the residence. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.  

At 10:41 a.m., officers responded to the Maverik at 59 Uinta Drive for a report of shoplifting. Officers met with the store director, who advised two individuals that were previously suspected of shoplifting last week entered the store, concealed items on their person, then left the store. Officers observed a vehicle matching the description and the two individuals entering the NAPA store located at 775 Uinta Drive. Officers initiated contact with the two individuals, gathered information and issued trespass warnings for Maverik. Officers subsequently placed Steven Scates, of Green River, under arrest and issued citations for alleged shoplifting and probation or parole violation. Officers also issued a citation to Tristy Richards, of Casper, for alleged shoplifting. Officers then transported Scates to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 11:36 a.m., officers issued citations to Jenifer Fletcher for alleged expired temporary license permit/improper registration and failure to provide proof of liability insurance.

At 3:36 p.m., officers responded to a residence on Chugwater Drive for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported one vehicle was backing out of their driveway as another vehicle was traveling northbound on Chugwater Drive. The rear of vehicle backing out struck the front of the other vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.

At 3:52 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Shoshone Avenue and Tigee Circle and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speeding - school zone.

At 4:10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of W Teton Boulevard and Cumorah Way and issued the driver a written warning for alleged speeding - school zone.

Feb. 9

At 2:14 a.m., officers responded to the area of Greasewood Street for a report of a barking dog. Officers located the residence where the barking dog was located and made contact with the owner. Officers advised of the complaint, gathered information, and issued a verbal warning. Officers completed a report and forwarded it to Animal Control.

At 8:07 a.m., officers observed an individual leaving their residence who was known to officers to have an active warrant. Officers made contact with the individual, confirmed the warrant, and placed Austin Cave, of Green River, under arrest. Officers transported Cave to the Sweetwater County Detention Center and completed a report of the incident.

At 12:45 p.m., officers responded to a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Astle Avenue and Uinta Drive. It was reported two of the vehicles were in the southbound turning lane on Uinta Drive when they stopped. Another vehicle was traveling southbound on Uinta Drive in the left driving lane approaching the intersection when it left the lane of travel and struck the passenger side mirror of one of the stopped vehicles, then proceeded to hit the other stopped vehicle on the back-passenger side of the vehicle. EMS was called to evaluate the individuals involved, but no transports were made. Officers gathered information and issued the driver of the vehicle that hit the others, John Bennett, of Green River, a citation for alleged improper lane use - driving on roadways laned for traffic, and completed a report of the incident.

At 1:10 p.m., officers responded to S 5 E Street for a report of a disturbing peace complaint. Officers met with the reporting parties and gathered information, then made contact with the resident and advised of the complaint.
