Wrestlers battle on the mat with Star Valley

After competing in eight straight large regional tournaments, which were all extremely competitive, the Green River Wolves boys Varsity and Junior Varsity teams hosted the always-tough Star Valley Braves wrestling team this past Friday night at the Green River High School Gym.

Star Valley did not bring their girls wrestling team as state rules prevented them from competing due to the number of meets they had already participated in.

The final score for the Varsity boys was extremely close as Star Valley prevailed with the narrowest of margins, winning 36-34.

According to Head Wrestling Coach Josh Wisniewski, "Star Valley built a big lead. We responded with some big pins against good opponents. I'm happy with how we fought back to make the dual close. We just came up a little short at the end. It's a tough pill to swallow but we will be better from this."

In the Junior Varsity match, Star Valley again prevailed with a very close win over the Wolves.

The wrestlers had a dual against the Evanston Red Devils yesterday and today they will host a dual against the Rock Springs Tigers at 6 p.m. in the main gym.
