Boys basketball put up a fight against Evanston and Jackson

The Green River Boys basketball team played in two conference games last Thursday and Saturday.

On Thursday, January 19, the boys played Evanston. The top scorers were Theran Archibald with 13 points and Kason Ivie with eight points. Theran Archibald lead the team with eight rebounds, and Caleb Lake had four assists.

The Wolves played great defense, holding their opponents to 46 points and out-rebounding them. They worked great together but they "could not buy a bucket," according to Head Coach Laurie Ivie. They shot 34% from the field, while Evanston shot 60%. This meant they couldn't take the lead from Evanston and ended the game with a loss. The final score was 46-37.

On Saturday, January 21, the boys played Jackson. The top scorers were Caleb Lake with 19 points, Theran Archibald with 17 points, and Chris Wilson with 14 points. Chris Wilson lead the team with seven rebounds and Kason Ivie contributed five assists.

"The boys played three fantastic quarters," said Coach Ivie. "The second quarter buried us, as we were outscored by 15 in that quarter. We had to work the rest of the game to dig us out of that hole."

Unfortunately, the Wolves couldn't get control back and ended the game against Jackson with a loss. The final score of the game was 76-66.

Despite these hard losses, the boys are keeping a positive attitude. They are using each game to stay motivated and also to learn from their mistakes so they can improve even more throughout the season.

The Wolves have a home game at 5 p.m. this Saturday. The boys will be playing Star Valley, so come down to the GRHS gymnasium and support the Wolves basketball team.
