Green River Police Department reports for Jan. 9
At 10:29 a.m., officers responded to Evans Street for a report of a weapons offense. Officers met with an individual who reported they were having issues with their neighbors and felt they were being harassed. Officers confirmed no weapons were involved, gathered information, offered assistance, and completed a report of the incident.
At 3:42 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop and issued the driver Jessica Hodges, 34, of Green River, citations for alleged expired temporary license, permit/improper registration; compulsory auto insurance; valid certificate of title, certificate of registration, and license plates required.
At 4:45 p.m., officers responded to Scotts Bottom Loop in reference to a single-vehicle crash. The driver of the vehicle advised that they were driving too fast for the snowy road surface and as they negotiated a curve, their vehicle slid off the road. The vehicle was pulled back onto the roadway by a passerby. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 5:52 p.m., officers responded to the area of Uinta Drive in reference to a vehicle vs deer crash. The driver of the vehicle reported they were traveling north on Uinta Drive when a deer ran out in front of the vehicle and they were unable to stop. The collision caused damage to the front bumper, grille and radiator of the vehicle. The deer was killed in the accident. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 11:02 p.m., officers responded to a report of domestic violence. Officers met with two individuals involved in a dispute. Both parties wanted to remain at the residence and agreed to separate from each other to avoid confrontation. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
Jan. 10
At 3:20 a.m., officers responded to a report of a scam. Officers met with an individual who reported being blackmailed by an individual they had met through Snapchat. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 7:58 a.m., officers responded to the area of Roosevelt Drive and Uinta Drive for a report of a two-vehicle collision. It was reported both vehicles were traveling southbound on Uinta Drive, one in the right-hand lane and the other in the left-hand lane. The first vehicle attempted to change lanes from the outside lane to the inside lane and the front of the vehicle hit the rear passenger side of the second vehicle. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 9:57 a.m., officers responded to the Green River Vape and Smoke shop, located at 175 River View Drive, for a report of an individual who found a small clear plastic bag with a crystal-like substance inside. Officers met with the individual, collected the bag and field tested the substance, which tested presumptive positive for Methamphetamine. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 10 a.m., officers responded to S 5th E Street for a follow up on a hit and run collision that took place on Jan. 6 involving a vehicle that struck a section of buckrail fence on Scotts Bottom Road Loop. Officers met with the driver, Clay Cudney, 25, of Green River, and issued citations for alleged careless driving and hit and run - unattended property. Officers gathered information and completed a supplemental report of the incident.
At 10:18 a.m., officers responded to the Green River High School for a fire alarm. The alarm was activated due to a mechanical issue in the boiler room. Students were evacuated as they identified the problem and returned to school after the issue was taken care of.
At 4:47 p.m., officers responded to the Green River Police Department in reference to a scam. Officers met with an individual who reported a monetary loss of $200 after responding to a Facebook sale ad for puppies. It was reported the victim sent the deposit for a puppy, but was then blocked by the seller and never received the puppy. Officers attempted to contact the seller, but spoke to an individual claiming their Facebook account had been hacked and they were not selling puppies. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 8:42 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle and issued the driver, Ronin Fletcher, 19, of Green River, citations for alleged inattentive driving and no valid driver’s license and/or violation of driver’s license conditions.
Jan. 11
At 9 a.m., officers responded to a report of an individual who was unconscious and not breathing. Upon arrival, the individual was found to be deceased. Officers then assisted detectives and the Coroner. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident, which is still under investigation.
At 12:12 p.m., officers responded to the area of Wilderness Court for a report of fraud. Officers met with an individual who reported their Facebook account had been hacked by an unknown individual and they were using the account to fraudulently sell items and scam people for money. The victim was able to acquire an approximate location, Lagos, Nigeria, of the individual trying to take over their Facebook and Instagram account. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 2:35 p.m., officers responded to the area of Missouri Court for a report of a scam. Officers met with an individual who reported that their computer had locked up and they received a message to call Microsoft. Once they had called the number they were advised to download a screen sharing program in order for them to help. They were instructed to grant the help desk access to their computer. Once the help desk had gained access, the victim advised that the individual then began to make odd demands including: telling them that there were charges in Mexico that they needed to pay for, and told the victim that they needed to pay them $27,000 by depositing it into an ATM in Rock Springs. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident. No monetary losses were reported.
At 11:47 p.m., while on patrol, officers located a black Schwinn Sidewinder 21 speed bike lying in the road in the area of Bridger (Stratton Myer Park). The bike was clear in NCIC. The owner is unknown at this time. Officers collected the bike for safekeeping and completed a report of the incident.
Jan. 12
At 9:17 a.m., officers responded to 500 Shoshone Ave, the Green River Fire Department, for a report of a collision. Officers met with the driver of the vehicle who advised they were backing the vehicle into the garage and the rear passenger side of the vehicle struck a utility pole. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 11:34 a.m., officers responded to the area of Anvil Drive for a nuisance animal complaint. Officers met with the reporting party who advised of the nuisance barking. Officers made contact with the dog owners, advised them of the complaint, and issued a citation for alleged 6-4 nuisance animal to Spencer Greene, 26, of Green River. Officers gathered information and completed a report of the incident.
At 2:14 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Arizona Street and Arkansas Drive in reference to an individual that was requesting assistance from an officer. Officers met with the individual, gathered information, organized some travel assistance for the individual, and completed a report of the incident.
